Photo of the Day
The Photo of The Day project was created as an exercise to post daily on social media. The challenge came from a discussion in Vincent Pugliese’s Membership Freedom community. I used photography as a way to get started since I didn’t have any marketing or web design content already created, and I have decades of photography that has never seen the light of day. I thought it would be a great way to revisit some of my old photography and give it purpose by sharing it with others, and also connect with others and let people get to know me better.
To choose the photo, I created a script with the help of ChatGPT that would randomly choose a photo on my external hard drive’s main photography folder. Photos from that folder range from 2010 to 2022. Anything that has been imported from a camera exists there. Over the years I’ve used a Canon Rebel XS, Canon T4i, Olympus OMD E-M10 Mark III, Canon 5D Mark II, Panasonic Lumix DMC-G85, and Panasonic Lumix DC-G95.
The initial results of the project were unexpected. Rather than showing some of my favorite landscapes, nature photography or abandoned shacks, the photos that were randomly chosen showed more about everyday life, the impact that I’ve made on others with my photography, and what stories and memories photos can hold. Photos can be powerful, solemn, exciting, nostalgic, creative, artistic, and more.
While not initially intended, I felt compelled to write reflections on the photos in order to provide some context to the viewers. Reflecting on past photos has become a favorite part of the project and has affected me in unexpected ways.
