“Peanut”

Isn’t it funny how we have different names for people at different times in their lives? Before Johanna was born, even when she was a tiny infant, we called her Baby Gaga (Elisabeth’s creation). But that name hasn’t been used nearly at all since. I called Elisabeth, “Liesl”, a lot more when she was an infant. I also called her “Peanut” because she was so little and cute.
Today Elisabeth is “Kiddo” or “Sissy”, and Johanna is “Hanni” or “Hanna” (and sometimes “Baby”, “Stinker”, or “Trouble”).
Fun Fact: Johanna is pronounced “Yo-Hawna” (it’s the German pronunciation). Think Johann Sebastian Bach, the composer, or Johannes Gutenberg, the father of the printing press. We spelled Elisabeth with an ‘s’ because it’s the German spelling. Also, Liesl and Hanni are the German nicknames for their full names. Both our families have German lineage, and Zac and I both took German language in college. Plus, our area in Pennsylvania is so rich in German heritage. So we thought it’d be fun to stick to our roots.
In this photo, our little peanut is just 5 months old, sitting with my Grandma “Gub Gub”.
