It’s sweet to see photos of Elisabeth when she was Johanna’s age. In this photo, she’s just a few months younger than Johanna is now, her hair finally past the length of infant hair. Here begins the rise of toddler independence, marked by both its parental conveniences and its hurdles. I’m about 2 months pregnant with Johanna in this photo. There’s a calmness to this picture, with the wind sweeping the bottom of her dress and her pride in holding up her blue Easter egg. The sun looks warm enough, and the green grass is an encouraging sign of warmer weather to come.
