Random photo from my collection.

This photo is of my lovely friend Ashley and her parents, Ken and Dawn. In 2015, Ashley invited me along on her family vacation to Fort Myers in Florida. It was a really fun and relaxed vacation. I got to ride on an airboat in the Everglades, get up super early to catch the sunrise, see alligators in the wild, kayak on the bay, see tons of wildlife like manatees and herons, drink margaritas, eat oysters, sunbathe, hold a baby alligator, jet ski, and so much more. I have to make a photo album of this trip sometime because I took some really nice shots. A huge thank you to the Malesky family for hosting me. Here are a few photos I have online: https://flickr.com/photos/jesspetro/albums/72157657692296592/.

Ashley told me last year that Fort Myers still hasn’t recovered from the damage from Hurricane Ian, and she wasn’t sure when it would. The place her family had been staying every August for years, Kahlua Beach Club, still wasn’t opened almost a year after the hurricane came through. Their website still states “closed until further notice.”

Hurricane Ian was a deadly and extremely destructive Category 5 Atlantic hurricane, which was the third-costliest weather disaster on record, the deadliest hurricane to strike the state of Florida since the 1935 Labor Day hurricane, and the strongest hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Michael in 2018. – Wikipedia
