This photo was actually taken from my iPhone 11 pro, which is a bit unusual to find within my photo hard drive. I typically don’t mix cell phone photos in the same folders as my camera photos. As I write this, Johanna is nearly the same age now as Elisabeth was in this photo then. I was eight months pregnant when I took this photo (who goes camping eight months pregnant, right??). I remember unveiling my pregnancy to one of our friends, Alex, on this camping trip. He hadn’t seen me yet since I started showing. I didn’t share a lot of my pregnancy with Johanna. I wanted to keep it for myself. Sometimes, in the age of sharing everything, it’s nice to savor some privacy. I wanted to tell my closest friends and family in person before sharing it online. To say our friend was surprised is an understatement!
The book that Zac is reading to Elisabeth in this photo is titled Brave Little Camper. Our friends Ashley and Dylan facilitate this yearly camping trip that Elisabeth now looks forward to all year. Aunt Ashley and Uncle Dylan, as we know them, take such great care of our girls. They are always showering them with gifts and know how to make things special. Ashley surprised Elisabeth with a whole bundle of camping toys and activities for Elisabeth on this camping trip. Both of our girls still love the well-loved Brave Little Camper book.
How could I have forgotten too, that September 10th is Zac and my wedding anniversary! Our friends made this weekend extra special with an anniversary card and flowers outside our cabin waiting for us when we arrived at the campsite. What better place to share such a cherished day than with our closest friends?
