Ty, Marketing Assistant
Photo of the day #39

Random photo from my collection.
I met my mentor, close friend, and former boss, Sonny, in 2014 when I was working for a fiber optic company in Breinigsville. His son Ty would come in on Wednesdays to help out and scan documents. I would help him when there were computer or software issues, which were often as a result of poorly designed software and hardware.
I showed him a little bit of graphic design one day on my computer. I took a vector graphic (cartoon for you non-design folks) of a fiber optic technician, and I showed how I could make the technician wave his arm to say “hi.” Ty is a really sweet and kind person, and I looked forward to saying hi to him on Wednesdays. I ordered a custom nameplate for his desk that said Ty, Marketing Assistant, to show my appreciation for him.
In 2022, I was honored to photograph Ty’s graduation photos at Lock Ridge Park. Considering Ty is a bit shy when it comes to photo-taking and doesn’t have quite the longest attention span, I was so pleased with how all the photos turned out. He was a very cooperative subject, and I thought he looked quite stylish in his outfit.
One thing to point out is the technical quality of this photo is much better and more evolved than another shot at Lock Ridge that I posted earlier in POTD #24 of Ashley and Dylan’s engagement session. Here I am using a better camera and a better lens, and I succeeded in making him a focal point by separating him from the background better using a shallower depth of field.
